planet venus

We're getting in touch with the beyond. The inner part of ourselves that is the most closely connected with the stars we were created from. We're discussing dreams, loneliness, and the ways we escape from ourselves to become someone else entirely, someone more true to what our soul is like. Planet Venus is only one way to describe what we're after. You can call it heaven, the cosmos, soul talk, shadows, the twilight zone. In this space names don't matter, only feelings and intention. Planet Venus is strange and sincere. Scroll through and find someone new, or maybe find someone familiar in the space in your heart that is most often overlooked. The space in your heart that belongs on another planet.

how to manifest anything with studio ghibli

Movies are good for changing your life. On another note, books are even better, but for today we're narrowing the topic down to movies. Specifically a few films. Specifically the Studio Ghibli films.

I love watching movies because they bring me out of my own boring world. They can inspire me in that way too. After watching Alias Grace on Netflix my biggest take away was that I wanted to keep my room very clean. There's a lot going on in Alias Grace, and while her being a maid is certainly a big part of the series, I just find it funny that my biggest takeaway from watching that was that every night I would tidy up my room and delicately line up my shoes and bring in my personal humidifier and place it next to my bed as if I too was a chamber maid in the early 1900s.

Manifestation might be too big a word to describe what happens when you watch a really good movie and suddenly you're acting like the main character, but when it comes to Ghibli films I think its just the proper term. In my experience, watching these films can change everything. They can change my mood, my outlook on life, my motivation, my perspective. Before I babysat for the first time I watched Only Yesterday to try and get in the vibe of being a fun, childish authority figure that was both relatable and respectable. To welcome in the fall season I watched Howls Moving Castle. Before I started college I watched Kiki's Delivery Service so I could get back into the swing of working hard. It all got me thinking about how impactful all movies can be, but especially these movies in particular.

So I present to you today: The Outrageous Guide to Manifesting the Perfect Life With Studio Ghibli.
Watch My Neighbor Totoro if you want to cultivate happiness, security, and new friends.
Watch Spirited Away if you feel stuck and need a new direction in life.
Watch Howl's Moving Castle to just feel cozy and to be comfortable in your own skin and confident in your abilities.
Watch Kiki's Delivery Service to be more successful at your career and increase ambition.
Watch From Up On Poppy Hill if you want a more organized life and a cleaner home.
Watch Porco Rosso to let loose and have more fun.
Watch Whisper of the Heart if you want to feel more creative and manifest healthy, fulfilling relationships.
Watch Only Yesterday to feel carefree and find your true calling.

Visual art has the grand power to change lives. We've all felt it before, with a particular movie, picture, or painting. Maybe it was even out in nature, a stunning sunset or a beautiful mountain. But the things we see have a strong influence over how we think of the world around us and ourselves. There isn't anything wrong with returning to a pleasant movie or a beautiful painting when we're feeling low and in need of some motivation or inspiration. Studio Ghibli movies have long been some of my favorite films, and I've only recently started to notice the positive impact they have on my mood. I use this manifestation guide as a sort of list to pick from when I'm deciding what movie to watch. I ask myself what I need most, what I'm struggling with at the moment, or what areas of my life I just need a little boost in. The simple question, what movie vibe am I going for tonight?, can also do the trick.

If you're a long time fan of Studio Ghibli, try watching one of them again with these new manifestation concepts in mind, or come up with your own! Whatever feeling you've long associated with the film will work. If you've never watched a Ghibli film before, now is the time to start. Choose what feeling you want to manifest most, and head over to HBO max to stream whatever film you need the most. And if you can't quite figure out what movie is best, here's a quick quiz you can take.

Now go off, and live your best life. <3

lonely ghosts

by g
As you look through this completely ridiculous and silly little ghost photoshoot, I don't know if I should encourage you to contemplate something totally moody and dramatic or just enjoy the random spookiness of this little photo trend I've hopped on.

I could ask that you think about ghosts, not just in the sense of shadows and specters, or dead people moving about an ancient mansion. You can think about the simple ghosts that exist around us. The ghost of morning breakfast lingering in the sink. The ghost of last nights take out hanging in the stale air of your car. The ghost of the last snowstorm in the dirty piles of slush that are slowly melting in the patches of shade that never see the sun. The ghosts of the lives we had a year ago that pop up on snapchat memories or emerge when you finally sit down with a group of people who were all there.

I could ask that you think about loneliness. About isolation. About fear over decision making and authority and society and all its problems that need fixing and the scary way we as people must wade through the problems trying to fix horrible leaks and cracks with glue sticks and rubber bands. Think about the act of standing all alone, and how often things have felt that way lately.

Or think about how goddamn ridiculous I look in a sheet with sunglasses at an abandoned tree house we found off the side of the road.
